  Eminent scientists like Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai; Prof. Pushan Ayub, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research; Dr Satyajit Mayor, Professor, National Center for Biological Sciences participated at the National Lecture Series and outlined the ways on how nano technology can improve several areas that affect daily life. The series had Prof. Rudra Pratap, Indian Institute of Science as the chair.

  Inspirational Lectures Programme bridged science students / faculty pursuing studies / nanotech research of different levels with world renowned nano science leaders for intimate talk/discussions on frontiers of nanoscience and technology. Students were thrilled to listen to high profile speakers like Prof Sir Richard Friend and Dr. Anthony Cheetam. Also Mr. Stephen Bill, Dr. Dunbar Birnie and Dr. Satheesh Krishnamurhthy inspired and motivated students to take up science as their career by providing insights into the exciting field of nanotechnology.

  As per the tradition, the event featured the popular “Nano for the Young” programme led by Prof. CNR Rao and attended by over 500 students and teachers from various schools and colleges.   Speakers at Nano Electronics session listed many exciting possibilities in nanotechnology. Mr. Suraj Rengarajan, Engineering Manager, Applied Materials, said, “Using the concepts of general large scale manufacturing, nano materials can be developed. Electronics industry can bring down the costs of many electronic devices using nanotechnology. Cost per function is going down via innovation in nano manufacturing. This became true for semiconductor LCD TVs and solar panels. In the near future, we do not need any more subsidies to use solar panels because of nano technology intensive manufacturing methods.”

Ashok Kumar Manoli, IAS, Dr. Anthony Cheetham, FRS, Prof. Ajay K Sood, Shri. Aravind Jannu, IAS and Mr. Jagdish Patankar. Shri. Manoli, said, “we are extremely happy with the response of Bangalore Nano 2010.” He concluded by announcing that the 4th Bangalore Nano will be held on 8th and 9th of December 2011.
